Una historia con sabor a chocolate… Azul, un ángel de la guarda poco común, indisciplinado, pícaro y gran admirador de la belleza, es enviado a la tierra a proteger a una niña llamada Abril. Antes de bajar, su maestro, que conoce su facilidad para meterse en problemas, le advierte que los ángeles tienen prohibido enamorarse. El ángel de la guarda sigue fielmente todas las indicaciones de su Maestro, hasta que conoce a Martina, durante una visita que Abril y su abuelo Fortunato, un magnate de la industria chocolatera, realizan al albergue La Casita Encantada, de la cual la familia Luna es la principal benefactora. Ángel y abuelo quedan fascinados con la profesora, Azul por su belleza y bondad y Fortunato por el enorme parecido que tiene con su fallecida hermana Aurora.
Este encuentro es bastante desafortunado para Débora Niño, directora del orfanato, y su socio Gastón Conde, abogado y futuro albacea de la fortuna de los Luna, pues temen que Fortunato se entere de que Abril no es su única familia. Durante la visita, Abril también se entera que Débora trata bastante mal a los huérfanos y que los obliga a trabajar, por lo que Fortunato le ordena a Conde suspender las donaciones hasta que investigue a fondo que sucede. Débora y Conde deciden entonces deshacerse de él y mantener a salvo su secreto. Acompañada solo de Azul, a quien nadie puede ver, Abril se ve obligada a vivir en el orfanato, lo que la une en sufrimiento a Martina, quien está segura de que le queda poco tiempo de vida, pues debido a una maldición, las mujeres de su familia mueren a los 25 años de edad.
Conde aprovecha el amor que la profesora siente por Abril y le pide que se casen y adopten a la pequeña, lo que obliga a Azul a materializarse en el cuerpo de un médico y a competir por el amor de Martina. Correspondido en sus sentimientos, el ángel decide ir al cielo a pedir permiso para convertirse en humano y vivir al lado de las dos mujeres que ama: Abril y Martina. Pero los planes de Conde y Débora son otros, por lo que le hacen creer a Martina que su amado no volverá y que una pareja bastante sospechosa está lista para adoptar a la pequeña. A partir de este momento enamorados, malvados y huérfanos, apenas comienzan una serie de aventuras que demostrarán que el amor tiene sabor a chocolate.

This meeting is quite unfortunate for Débora Niño, director of the orphanage and her partner Gastón Conde, lawyer and future executor of the Luna fortune, as they fear that Fortunato will find out that Abril is not her only family. During the visit, Abril also finds out that Débora treats the orphans quite badly and forces them to work, so Fortunato orders Conde to suspend donations until he fully investigates what is happening. Débora and Conde then decide to get rid of him and keep his secret safe. Accompanied only by Azul, whom no one can see, Abril is forced to live in the orphanage, which unites her in suffering with Martina, who is sure that she has a short time to live, because due to a curse the women of his family die at 25 years of age.
Conde takes advantage of the teacher's love for Abril and asks her to marry and adopt the little girl, forcing Azul to materialize in the body of a doctor and compete for Martina's love. Reciprocated in his feelings, the angel decides to go to heaven to ask permission to become a human and live next to the two women he loves: Abril and Martina. But Conde and Débora's plans are different, which is why they make Martina believe that her beloved will not return and that a rather suspicious couple is ready to adopt the little girl. From this moment on, lovers, villains and orphans are just beginning a series of adventures that will show that love has a chocolate flavor.
