Bella es una mujer muy hermosa que vive en un pueblo bananero. Su gran amor es Antonio Segovia, un hombre proveniente de una familia conservadora. Pero un día ella es secuestrada por el poderoso empresario Román Montero y llevada a vivir a una mansión para ser su concubina. Bella espera ser rescatada, pero nadie cree que Román la ha secuestrado, especialmente, su prometido, quien herido, cree que ella se fue con Montero por interés. Como si el destino no hubiera sido suficientemente cruel con ella, Bella recibe otro golpe cuando su abuelo muere y queda sola en el mundo.
Abandonada y humillada, no tiene más remedio que entregarse a Román, pero pierde la virginidad con alguien más, para no darle esa satisfacción. Luego, para vengarse de él, decide satisfacer a todos quienes la desean a cambio de oro y joyas. Así, Bella se convierte en millonaria y, una vez que Román es obligado a regresar a la capital por motivos laborales, ella se reinstala en el pueblo Agua Hermosa con la ilusión de volver a encontrarse con su amado Antonio. Pero Antonio, por las grandes presiones familiares y sociales, no puede perdonarla y se casa con otra mujer. Bella, sintiéndose rechazada y destrozada, decide vengarse: instala en este pueblo conservador, un burdel donde ella es la única prostituta. Allí se entrega a todos los hombres ricos para torturar de celos al amor que la despreció. "Todos los hombres podrán tenerla, menos él".
Pero el gran amor entre Bella y Antonio es demasiado fuerte como para ser olvidado por ellos; eventualmente se convierten en amantes, pasando por encima el hecho de que él está casado ahora con Evangelina y tiene varios hijos… esto generará más rechazo y odio hacia ella por parte de la gran parte del pueblo. Pero a Bella esto le tendrá sin cuidado e incluso, también tendrá una hija con Antonio… Esta tirante relación entre ambos marcará por muchos años sus vidas y las de los habitantes del pueblo, en especial la de Andrés Mendoza, quien será el eterno tercero en discordia y además tendrá otra hija con Bella.
Una historia que empieza tan mal no podría terminar de modo diferente; agobiada por los constantes celos enfermizos y abusos de Antonio, Bella contratará a alguien para que lo asesine… sin embargo, se arrepentirá de esto y tratará de evitarlo a toda costa, pero ya será demasiado tarde…

This strained relationship between the two will mark their lives and those of the town's inhabitants for many years, especially that of Andrés Mendoza, who will be the eternal third in discord and will also have another daughter with Bella.
