Aunque técnicamente es un buen médico, lo que en realidad le interesa es el dinero, así esté de por medio la vida de los pacientes. Está inmerso en negocios turbios que María Clara intuye y decide investigar hasta las últimas consecuencias. Un empeño en el que sus más cercanos amigos le ayudan. Sin embargo, hábil como buen delincuente. Manuel se las arregla para hacerles difícil la tarea de comprobar sus fechorías.
